Almost 3.8 million Russians rested in Antalya in 2017
More than 40% of foreign tourists who visited Antalya in 2017 were Russians. The governor of Antalya Munir Karaloglu summed up the results of the past year. According to him, 2017 was the best in the tourist history of the resort: which was visited by 10, 486 million foreign tourists. It is 57% higher than in 2016. In total, tourists from 184 countries visited Antalya.
The leaders in the number of trips to Antalya were Russian tourists: the border services reported about the arrival of 3,796 million Russian citizens (671% of the indicator of 2016). This is an absolute historical maximum. In 2014, which is considered as the golden year of Turkish tourism, 3.489 million Russian tourists visited Antalya, in 2018 - 2.838 million people, in 2016 - 492 thousand citizens of Russia.
On the second line in the list of arrivals to Anatolian resort is Germany: 1.695 million people (-15% of the level of 2016). On the third line are the tourists from Ukraine (715 thousand people, + 24%). The TOP 5 also include Great Britain (375,000 tourists, + 8.5%) and the Netherlands (270,000 tourists, -21%).
According to Karaloglu, the hoteliers of Antalya have all the reasons to believe that the number of tourists from Russia and Ukraine will increase in 2018. At least, Russia is expected to exceed the figure of 4 million tourists.
