Aeroflot cancels flights to three US cities
Aeroflot suspends regular flights to Washington, Los Angeles and Miami until April 30, the company said.
“From March 29 Aeroflot will continue to operate flights to the USA only along the route Moscow - New York - Moscow,” it was informed.
In addition, the flights to Dubai and Lisbon are suspended until April 30.
Also, Aeroflot will reduce the frequency of flights to Baku (Azerbaijan) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) by April 30, and to Paris (France) by April 16.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered the introduction of temporary restrictions on flights to the UK, the USA and the UAE from March 20. An exception is made for regular flights Moscow - London, Moscow - New York, Moscow - Abu Dhabi operated through terminal F of Sheremetyevo airport.
Currently, only Aeroflot, which flies from Sheremetyevo along four routs: to New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, currently operates regular flights between the Russian Federation and the USA.
London is the only UK city where Russian airlines fly. But through Sheremetyevo, only Aeroflot and British Airways operate flights there. S7 and Ural Airlines fly from Domodedovo to London; UK flights of Wizz Air are served in Vnukovo.
The UAE is a popular resort destination among Russians. A number of airlines, including foreign ones, fly to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
