23 UNWTO general assembly was held in Russia
The world’s main tourist event –World Tourism Organization General Assembly was held during 09-13 September in Russia this year and tourism ministers and officials all over the world took part in it. There were 2150 participants from the travel industry from 138 countries in Saint-Petersburg. The business program included 16 events which results would influence the principles of world travel industry development during next two years. The main topic was the discussions and debates about the ways of stable development of tourism in the world, innovations integration and industry globalization. The significant event of the assembly was the adoption of UNWTO Convention on ethics of tourism. The results of the previous two years were summed up and the new projects were announced. Thus UNWTO general secretary Zurab Popolikashvili declared the on-line academy creation for everybody wishing to get the professional training in tourism. The second contest of start-ups and the launch of the innovation hub were announced during this assembly too. At the end the next master city for the event in 2021 was chosen. That is Marrakesh.
Marina Eremeeva, worked more than 17 years in travel agency business, first on the position of sales manager, and later as director and co-owner of «4 Tours», one of the biggest travel agency in Rostov-on-Don (Southern part of Russia).
