Tunisia showed growth even in low season

Tunisia authorities published statistics of arrivals of Russian tourists from January 1 to May 20. The growth is 46% more than in the last year. Summer, according to the data of tour operators, also promises growth - even in conditions of competition with Turkey - the incredibly popular destination in this season. According to Tunisian official statistics, as of May 20, the number of foreign tourists arriving in the country since the beginning of the year exceeded the level of 2.3 million. According to the Tourism Minister of Tunisia Mrs. Ellumi Rekik, tourism sector revenues, during this period increased by 31.8% reaching a figure of 305 million Euros. According to her, the recovery and growth of the tourist flow was mainly the result of an increase of the number of bookings from "traditional" markets (France and Germany), but the Russian tourist flow also showed an impressive increase of 46%. Russian tour operators are waiting for growth in the direction: in their opinion, Tunisia has its own place in the existing structure of summer beach directions and due to a number of factors the country has ceased to be a "substitute of Egypt”.
