Tour operators have sold about 140 thousand tours to Egypt with departures until March 2016
Russian tour operators sold till March 2016 about 140 thousand tours to Egypt, the press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Tyurina reported. "We interviewed the main operations on the destination to find out the number of sold tours, and then determined the overall figure taking into account the market share of each tour operator to Egypt. As the result the total number is about 140 thousand tour packages, the depth of sales reached March 2016," she said. According to Irina Tyurina, Egyptian authorities had previously put the figure of 250 thousand sold tour packages, but according to estimations of tour operators, it is overpriced. As previously Russian Tourism Agency reported, there are now in Egypt about 80 thousand tourists from Russia, but their number will decline rapidly, as people only come back, but not to come in. According to the Russian Tourism Union, the majority of tourists who had in the coming days to fly to Egypt agree on vacation in Antalya, or in Cyprus. Those who are due to leave later, the tour operators do offer to postpone travel to Egypt for any period when the flights will be resumed, or offer a substitute to an alternative destination. The flight programs of Russian tour operators to Egypt involved 13 airlines that had flights out of the 27 cities, they are also planning to export Russian tourists from Egypt," Irina Tyurina explained. According to the Russian Tourism Union, 60-70% of flight program to Egypts is from Moscow.
