Tour operators expect the resumption of flights to Egypt in the summer
Russian tourists could return to Egypt in the summer of this year, the general director of Intourist Victor Topolkaraev said at a press conference on Wednesday. "We believe that Egypt will be opened by the summer and will be the largest summer destination. Up to 200 thousand people can go there in the first month. Then Greece will be the second popular destination, followed by Bulgaria and Cyprus,…" Topolkaraev added. Air transportation between Russia and Egypt was halted on November 6 of the last year after the plane with Russian tourists crashed on the Sinai Peninsula. On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Alsisi discussed on the phone the terms of the resumption of flights between the countries. Egypt has previously said that it will invest $ 32 million in security at resorts and at airports.
