The number of Chinese tourists in Primorye increased by 1.6 times in 2016

"The significant increase of the number of tourists from China was observed in the first quarter (2016), but the tourist traffic peak (in the framework of an agreement of visa-free trips) was noted in July and August - for these two summer months the region hosted almost 100 thousand people. Totally for 2016 Primorye hosted more than 350 thousand tourists from China", - said the Head of the tourism department of Primorye Konstantin Shestakov. He clarified that the Primorye region is the second best among Russian regions by number of tourists from China, on the first place is Moscow. According to preliminary data, Primorye was visited by about 3 million tourists in 2016, including more than 500 thousand foreigners. "Primorye Region is traditionally a leader in the number of tourists among the Far Eastern regions, accumulating more than 70% of the total tourist traffic", - the report says.
