The hotel occupancy at the Egypt resorts is only one-third
Following the results of the year the Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada will show the lowest level of occupancy for the last few years period due to the lack of Russian tourists - according to the data of "Journal of ATOR", which is referring to the report of the company Colliers International. The analysis showed that due to the fall of tourist flow from Europe and the "closing" of the Russian market the occupancy of Sharm el-Sheikh hotels dropped by 52% this year, in Hurghada - 43%. The head of the Ministry of Transport Maxim Sokolov said September 30, that after inspection of Egypt airports the experts came to the conclusion that the opening of air communication between Russia and Egypt is premature. Egyptian side need more time to remove all shortcomings and bring into operation the second terminal at Cairo airport. After that, the Russian experts have to make "at least another visit" to Egypt. In late August M. Sokol reported, that the Cairo airport will be likely the first to take the Russian tourists after opening of the new terminal. He specified later, that it concerns the scheduled flights. If the resorts areas of Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh will be the first to be opened (according to the Russian government's decision) - it is more likely, that the first flights will be charters.
