Russian tourists showed incredible results in Sri Lanka
Tourism in Sri Lanka is experiencing a tourism boom, and not without the help of Russian tourists. This was announced by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
According to SLTDA, the island received the largest number of foreign tourists in December 2021. The majority of tourists in Sri Lanka came from neighboring India.
But Russia turned out to be the next source market in terms of the number of tourists, slightly ahead of such a traditional market as Great Britain - the difference is in hundreds of tourists. The rest of the European states are far behind.
Overall, despite the closure of borders in April 2021for several months due to the "covid" crisis, 194 495 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka, and more than a quarter of them were from India.
India sent over 56 thousand tourists to the country. On the second and third lines are Russia and Great Britain, both markets sent over 16 thousand tourists. After them are Germany with 12 thousand, Ukraine with 7 thousand and France with 6 thousand.
