Russians began to book tours to Sri Lanka more often
This winter, Sri Lanka is counting very much on the Russian market and tries to expand the volume of traffic. So, from November 9, SriLankan Airlines has increased the number of flights to 2 per week between Moscow and Colombo. The flights depart from Domodedovo to Colombo on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
In November, the cost of round-trip tickets for one passenger on SriLankan Airlines flights starts from 466 Euros. In addition, Aeroflot will start flying to Colombo from November 20. Round-trip tickets cost from 510 Euros for one person.
Tour operators have already appreciated the expansion of the SriLankan Airlines flight program. For example, Paks tour operator took blocks of seats on the flights of SriLankan Airlines from November 16 to March 19, 2022. The tour operator Russian Express also books the block of seats on SriLankan Airlines flights.
According to experts of Intourist tour operator, the second frequency of SriLankan Airlines will make it possible to arrange longer tours, requests for which increase constantly.
Tour operators Pax, Ics Travel Group, Tez Tour and Russian Express note an increase of the number of requests for tours in November - December, despite the fact that only vaccinated tourists can enter Sri Lanka without quarantine.
Several factors contribute to the growing interest of Russian tourists, including the traditionally revival of seasonal demand, the possibility of entry both with an electronic visa and with a visa upon arrival, facilitating the entry procedure for vaccinated people, and reducing flight prices.
“The main audience for Sri Lanka now is couples and youth,” states Anex Tour. Experts from Intourist and Vedi Group agree with their colleagues: according to their observations, the Sri Lankan destination is interesting for active youth, including surfers. Nowadays, a certain interest is being formed for combined tours - Sri Lanka + Maldives.
