The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand has prepared official final data on the tourist flow to the Kingdom for 2022. At the end of the year, Russia is on the third position in terms of tourist flow among non-Asian countries and entered the TOP-10 in terms of total tourist flow.
Last year, according to official statistics, 11,2 million foreign tourists visited Thailand. Malaysia became the leader of tourist flow to Thailand in 2022. 1 948 549 tourists came to Thailand from this country. Silver in the total tourist flow belongs to India – 997 913 tourists. Singapore closes the TOP-3, 614 627 tourists came to Thailand from there in 2022.
Russia's contribution is bronze among non-Asian countries and only the 9-th place in the total tourist flow.
According to Thai statistics, which was provided by the Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in 2022, Thailand accepted 435 008 Russians. This is more than 14 times or 131,4% more than in 2021, when only 30 759 Russians came to Thailand.
The best tourist month of the winter of 2022 was January. This period Thailand received 23 760 Russians. In the spring, most Russians traveled to Thailand in March – 9 197 tourists.
August turned out to be the best summer month in terms of tourist flow, when 9 170 tourists from Russia had holidays in Thailand. The leader of autumn is November with 109,4 thousand tourists from Russia. And in December 2022, Thailand accepted 183 109 tourists.
Russia in terms of tourist flow for 2022 ranked third among non-Asian countries, behind are the United States (453 678 tourists) and Great Britain (444 432 tourists). Russia is followed by Germany, from where 365 030 tourists came to Thailand in 2022. Behind Germany is France with 268 587 tourists.
Based on the final data on the tourist flow, the Russian tourist flow to Thailand recovered by almost 30% compared to the values of 2019 (1,47 million tourists).
In the coming year, according to the TAT experts, Thailand aims to restore the volume of Russian tourist flow to 60-65% - that is 900 thousand / 1 million arrivals in 2023.
