Russia entered the top three in terms of tourist flow to Israel
Russia ranked third in the number of travelers visiting Israel in the first quarter of 2023. The tourist flow increased by almost 2,5 times compared to the same period last year, the press service of the country's Ministry of Tourism reports.
"Since the beginning of the year, there has been a tendency to restore the inbound tourist flow. From January to March, 916 thousand foreign tourists visited the country. This is 199% more than in the same period of 2022 and 13% less than in the same period of the record pre-pandemic year 2019", the message says.
Most of the tourists in the first quarter of 2023 came from the United States - 246 thousand, which is 149% more than in the same period last year and 14% more than in the same period of 2019. In the second place is France, where 59,2 thousand travelers came from (plus 74% by 2022, minus 17% by 2019). On the third position is Russia, from which 53,5 thousand tourists arrived. This is 241% more than in the same period last year and 23% less than in the record-breaking 2019.
Israel's Minister of Tourism Chaim Katz noted the positive trend in inbound tourism from the Russian Federation in 2023.
