More than 100 thousand Russians had holiday in Turkey
Over the first two weeks of August, 325 000 foreign tourists visited Antalya, among them 106 thousand are Russians, 74 thousand - Ukrainians, 48 thousand - Germans. It was reported by the Turkish Daily Sabah with reference to the chairman of the working group on tourism of the Antalya City Council, Recep Yavuz.
According to the head of the Turkish Hoteliers Association (TUROB), Mubera Erezin, this Turkish resort has lost 96% of the tourist flow from Russia for the period from January to July this year. Now about 20 thousand people arrive from Russia to the resorts of Antalya every day. However, the situation in the industry remains difficult - Turkey is counting on the first signs of a real recovery of tourism no earlier than in spring 2021.
As general manager of Bentour, Deniz Ujur, said, in the near future we can expect the arrival of 250-300 thousand tourists from Russia and Germany, while the flow from Germany will not exceed a third of last year's volume.
The “pre-pandemic” forecast of summer arrivals of Russians to Antalya in 2020 was 6 million. Most Russians who now come to Turkish resorts have booked their holidays before the pandemic. If the trend continues, by the end of the year, Antalya, according to experts, will be visited by at least 3 million Russian tourists.
In 2019, the share of Russians was up to 15,6% of the total inbound flow to the country. 7 million Russians had holidays in Turkey, the vast majority (5,5 million) in Antalya. This is 35% of all foreign tourists at the resorts of the province.
