By order of June 28, 2021, the Russian government opened air borders for citizens of 10 states. The list includes countries with which Russia has restored air traffic since June 28, 2021: Belgium, Bulgaria, Jordan, Ireland, Italy, Cyprus, China, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia and the United States.
Earlier, by order of June 18, entry into Russia through the air border was opened for citizens of the following countries: Austria, Hungary, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Morocco and Croatia.
Some of these countries accept Russian tourists. However, tour operators of inbound tourism sector are not waiting for the return flow of tourists: incoming tourism in Russia, after a short period of revival, has stopped again.
“Individual tourists can visit Russia with different purposes, but these purposes don’t related to excursion tourism,” said Marina Levchenko, general director of Tari Tour company.
According to her, at the moment, the booking of tours to Russia has stopped, the groups that planned to come to Russia are postponing the dates of the tours.
“Before the third wave, we saw a certain revival of the inbound tourist flow. The company accepted small groups from the UAE, Qatar and Germany. But since last week, everything has stopped again. In Germany, for example, a two-week quarantine has been introduced for everyone who returns from Russia. Foreign tourists are canceling trips. Even Russian tourists refuse to travel to Moscow,” says Marina Levchenko.
