European Union opens borders, Russian tourists are denied in entry
Russia, as expected, was not included in the list of those 15 countries from which the ban on entry into the EU was removed from July 1. More precisely, the ban on entry into the EU was lifted for citizens of 14 countries, and the restriction may also be lifted for China.
At the first stage, entry into the European Union is allowed only to citizens of those countries where the situation with coronavirus should not be worse than in the EU itself. The list is follows:
Algeria
Australia
Canada
Georgia
Japan
Montenegro
Morocco
New Zealand
Rwanda
Serbia
South Korea
Thailand
Tunisia
Uruguay.
As predicted, Russia, Brazil and the United States were not included in the list of countries whose citizens were allowed to enter the European Union since July 1. This recommendation also applies to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
“The epidemiological situation in Russia does not allow us to include it in the first list of countries whose citizens can entry EU since July 1,” commented a source in the European Commission.
