ATOR: there are chances for opening of Egypt on the New Year dates

According to the executive director of ATOR Maya Lomidze, two factors are preventing to make correct prediction on the New Year destinations. The first is sustained position of Egypt, which obtained in previous years not less than 50% of the winter tourist flow. And the second - a continuing trend of “last minute” bookings, due to which the actual picture will become clear only in the beginning of December. "The first factor in the New Year demand - we still do not have Egypt, which was the best winter destination. Respectively, the leaders now are all possible "beach" alternative - Tunisia, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Dominican Republic", - said Maya Lomidze at a press conference on Thursday. The expert stressed that the state of Egypt is still "suspended". "In recent years the Egyptian side is taking all efforts to ensure greater security. Another delegation from the Russian Ministry of Transport will arrive to the country in early December. And we can not exclude the possibility, that they will agree, then - there are chances that before the NY Egypt will be opened", - noted Maya Lomidze. Today, according to her, Tunisia has received the main growth in demand, which has shown an incredible result in summer period and continues to demonstrate it. In a big plus is Cyprus with the growth of 15%.
