Air traffic to Egypt can not be resumed until the end of the year
“The security checks at the airports in Egypt revealed again a number of shortcomings, the resumption of air links with Russia before the end of the year is unlikely”, - said "Interfax" a source, which is familiar with the situation, on Monday. "For the last time at the Cairo airport a lot of various tests and checks were conducted in the framework of conforming it to all high Russian safety requirements. But the special attention was paid to the resorts airports - Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada. Unfortunately, the results of the inspections, the shortcomings which have been re-discovered, do not allow us to speak about the nearest resumption of air links between Russia and Egypt", - said the source. He said that, in particular, the shortcomings related to a number of system issues, including the personal responsibility of the staff. "Here it is, in particular – the level of professional education of the personnel, which are responsible for aviation safety performance and for control systems in the sterile zone", - said the source. At the end of last year the aviation authorities of the two countries began to interact to provide additional security in the Egyptian airports in order to resume flights. Russia has repeatedly sent to Egypt its specialists to conduct tests.
