Turkey or Egypt: the demand of Russians for the New Year has changed dramatically

The interest of Russian tourists in winter recreation areas has changed dramatically. According to the latest data, the Russians will spend the New Year holidays in Turkey. Earlier, Egypt has traditionally been a massive budget winter destination for the New Year with a warm sea and sunny weather for Russians.

As Turkish tourism media reported, nowadays, everything has changed - Egypt is losing ground in New Year's preferences and this country has been replaced by Turkey.

Despite the rise of prices in Russia up to 70 percent, the demand for New Year's tours is higher than last year's. Thus, the data of the tour operator Tez Tour showed that this year the demand for package tours increased by 30%.

At the same time, according to Intourist, 27,5% of sales among Russian tourists are for domestic trips. In the second place is Turkey with 26% of bookings. It is followed by Egypt, Abkhazia and Venezuela (12% - 15%).

The tour operator Anex Tour also announced that in their company Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are on the first lines in sales of tours abroad.

The cost of a weekly New Year vacation at a 4- or 5-star hotel ranges from $ 2 700 to 7 385. Travel agencies offer the most expensive tours to the Maldives, and the cheapest ones to Turkey.

In the last year's tourist demand for New Year's holidays, the Dominican Republic was also in the top three. The Caribbean country took the 3rd position in terms of sales in the ranking of tour operators Coral Travel, Pegas Touristik and Anex Tour. The drop in demand this year is explained by the fact that in February, direct charter flights to the Dominican Republic were removed from the schedule.
