Tunisia was visited by 625,000 Russian tourists in 2016

“Last year Tunisia was visited by 625,000 Russian tourists”, - the Minister of Tourism of Tunisia Salma Ellumi Rekik said to reporters. "And we hope, that this positive trend will continue, and in 2017 more and more Russians will visit Tunisia. Until recently, the largest number of tourists was coming to Tunisia from France, now the first place belongs to Russia”. - she added. Earlier it was reported, that in 2016 the flow of tourists from Russia was 137% more than in 2014. In 2015 the number of Russian tourists in Tunisia decreased by 83% due to the Islamist terrorist attacks in Bardo Museum and at the hotel of the Sousse resort, which killed nearly 60 tourists. She agreed, that the closing of Turkey and Egypt resorts has increased the tourist flow from Russia to Tunisia.
