Travel number from Russia to Thailand decreased in the first quarter
“Tourist flow from Russia to Thailand in the first quarter of this year decreased within the limits of statistical error - by 0.56%, while tourists' expenses decreased by 1.6%”, Phuket News reported.
In March, Russian tourists made 194.5 thousand trips to Thailand, which is 1.3% less than in the same month last year. At the same time, the spending of Russians decreased by 3.3% to 12.9 billion baht ($ 400 million).
During the first quarter of the year, tourists from Russia visited Thailand 615.5 thousand times (-0.56%) and spent 44.6 billion baht ($ 1.4 billion).
In general, from January to March, tourists made 10.8 million trips to Thailand, which is 1.8% more than last year. At the same time, travel expenses rose by only 0.38%. In March, the total tourist flow decreased by 0.7%, spending - by 1.3%.
In particular, in the first quarter of the year, the flow of tourists from China (the main source market for Thailand) decreased by 1.8% - 3.1 million Chinese tourists came to the country and spent 172.5 billion baht ($ 5.4 billion - 1.8%). The flow of tourists from most European countries also declined, most strongly from Finland, Sweden and Switzerland.
At the same time, the number of tourists from some countries rose by quarter: from India (25%), Japan (9.3%), Korea (7%), Eastern European countries (5.5%) and the USA (5%).
