Tour operators could contain a drop in prices for tours to Thailand
For the period after the New Year holidays the demand on the travel market traditionally decreases - as a result, tours are also becoming cheaper. However, in the middle of January 2019 tour operators could contain a drop in prices on the Thai destination.
So, the minimum prices for tours to Thailand with departure from Moscow now start from 62 thousand Rubles (814 Euros) for two persons. This is a price for weekly holiday according to the Fortuna system (when the hotel is chosen by tour operator) in Phuket since January 13. These prices are higher than the cost of air travel and allow market participants to work with little profitability.
Experts see the main reason for not very significant cost reduction in the partial redistribution of demand from the New Year dates to the post-holiday period. “Tour operators have anticipated this trend even on the eve of holidays and, unlike in previous years, launched the minimum number of additional flights to Thailand for the New Year holidays,” the head of one of the tour operators told. According to him, now the volume of transportation on the destination is balanced. The supply corresponds to the demand and only a small part of the tours is sold at low prices.
Experts expect some increasing of tour packages to Thailand in the first decade of February. The Chinese New Year falls on the 5th day of the last winter month and the number of tourists from China will noticeably increase at the resorts of the country. Due to the reduced rooms’ number, hoteliers usually raise their price. However, major tour operators, as a rule, try to get hard blocks in hotels for these dates in advance, so the increased demand from the Asian markets will be insignificant.
