The Russians spent almost 1,516 billion Euros on summer holidays abroad
The total spending of Russians for foreign travels in the summer of 2019 amounted to 1,501 billion Euros and in the New Year period (from December 15, 2019 to January 15, 2020) – 640 million Euros. Such data was provided by Sberbank Data project. Its analysts investigated the most popular travel destinations and tourist spending in 2019-2020 excluding airfare and hotel accommodation. The study used data from Sberbank cardholders, their number was not disclosed.
The tourist activity of Russians in 2019 increased significantly said in a statement. The number of tourists in the summer season increased by 6% compared to 2018, and during the winter holidays the growth amounted to 11,1%. Turkey turned out to be the most popular summer destination; its share is about 15,6% of the flow from Russia (+ 13.4%).
On average, Russians spent abroad 65 Euros per day. Moreover, this is not always spending of one person, the message says: during family travel, payment is made by one card for goods and services for several tourists.
Italy turned out to be one of the most expensive destinations: there tourists left 119 Euros per day, and the biggest expenses were spent for clothes and shoes (40 Euros).
