The Border Service of Russia released the final data on the departure of Russian citizens abroad in 2019. Last year, the total exit flow increased by 7,9% compared to 2018 or by 3,5 million trips.
In 2019, Russian citizens made 22 333 490 trips (or 46,5% of the total exit flow) in countries of “far abroad”, which do not have (or almost do not have) land borders with Russia. This is 9,72% more than in 2018.
The TOP-10 leading countries together account for 71,7% of the total tourist flow to non-CIS countries which are not bordering Russia. Turkey is the leader with share of 31,3%.
Among the leading ten countries, in 2019, the largest increase in the volume of Russian tourist flow compared to 2018 was demonstrated by Turkey (+ 18,5%) and Italy (+ 16,7%). Also, the following countries showed tangible increase in volumes - Vietnam (+ 7,65%), Tunisia (+ 6,37%), Spain (+ 4,72%), Cyprus (+ 3,91%) and the United Arab Emirates (+3). A slight increase was shown by Germany (+ 1,5%) and Thailand (+ 0,6%). According to the results of 2019, only Greece (-7.3%) demonstrated negative result of 2019.
Outside the leading ten countries, the TOP-20 of the key exit markets of Russia includes:
France (579 307 trips, growth is + 12,35% by 2018),
Czech Republic (559 994, + 6,7%),
Bulgaria (396 296, -13,3%),
Israel (392 641, + 1,43%),
Montenegro (369 023, + 24,2%),
South Korea (323 730, + 10,8%),
Great Britain (305 000, + 9,85%),
Austria (272 455, + 1,95%),
Netherlands (268 943, + 8,60%),
Switzerland (253 356, + 3,37%).
