The number of tourists from China in St. Petersburg at New Year holidays has doubled
“The number of organized tourists from China, visited St. Petersburg during the Christmas holidays, has doubled against the same period of the last year”, - said in the press service of Tourist Association "The World without Borders" on Tuesday.
"According to the tour operators, the members of the association, at New Year and in the first week of January 2017 Saint Petersburg was visited by totally about 4 thousand Chinese, while a year ago the number was about two thousand", - informed the press service.
According to the report, the Russian direction is popular mainly among the older generation of Chinese. Thus, almost 45% of Chinese citizens who arrived St. Petersburg - people older than 50 years, the majority of them (63%) - women.
It was reported that more than 670 thousand "visa-free" tourists from China visited Russia from January to September 2016, it is 40% more than in the same period of 2015 and 18% more than in all of 2015. According to the State Tourism Administration of China, China has become the world's largest source of out coming tourism in 2015. About 117 million inhabitants have left the country with tourism purpose.
