The most popular destinations for Russians for the New Year

Travel planning service OneTwoTrip has defined popular New Year destinations in Russia and abroad, for which tourists have already begun to purchase air tickets. To do this, the company analyzed the data of customer bookings with departures from December 31 to January 8.

For the January holidays, travelers most often order flights abroad: the share of foreign destinations increased by 8,6 times compared to the same period last year and amounted to 77,3%.

Now, the top leader among countries in terms of early bookings is Thailand (share is 38,7% of all orders abroad). Thailand is followed by Indonesia (10,9%) and Vietnam (10,8%). The fourth line is occupied by the Philippines (5,5%). And Turkey closes the top five popular destinations with a share of 5,1%.

Top cities and countries will gradually change. Considering the data of the search request of the service's customers, we note that the demand for both foreign and domestic destinations is currently distributed equally.

For foreign destinations, tourists often interest in flights to Turkey (the share of all searches abroad is 16,7%), Thailand (10,6%) and the United Arab Emirates (10,4%). The list also includes Uzbekistan (6,6%), Armenia (4,6%), Egypt (3,6%), the Maldives (2,9%), Belarus (2,8%), Azerbaijan (2,7% ) and Georgia (2,4%).
