Thailand may open to Russian tourists in the coming month
The Thai authorities are ready to open the borders for Russian tourists in the near future. This was announced on Friday, August 7, by the official representative of the Russian Embassy in the Kingdom, Vladimir Kim. According to him, now the question of lifting restrictions on international flights is on the agenda. Under favorable circumstances, the question can be settled within one month.
“Both countries are interested in the soonest resumption of regular flights. A corresponding discussion is being held by the aviation authorities of the two countries. Many factors will be considered, one of which is the principle of reciprocity,” the diplomat added.
In turn, the press service of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, who is the head of the operational headquarters to combat the spread of the new coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation, said that a resolution on the resumption of flights to Thailand would be settled on the basis of the level of infection. Currently, the Kingdom has excellent indicators in this sphere.
Recently, the Association of Travel Agencies of Thailand proposed a new Safe and Sealed plan to restore inbound tourism. It assumes that only vacationers from cities, where no cases of coronavirus infection were recorded during the previous month, will receive admission to visit resorts. Tours will be arranged according to the program of tour operators and also include visits to some provinces and accommodation only in certain hotels.
According to the representative of the Thai host company, the tourist industry expects the lifting of restrictions on flights closer to the start of the high season in Thailand. That is, the first airplanes will fly to the country in October.
