In the first quarter of 2019, 90.1% of the entire Russian tourist flow to Indonesia accounted for one island - Bali. In recent years, other islands have gradually attracted the attention of Russian tourists.
Thus, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, from January to March 2019, 46.4 thousand Russian tourists visited the country, which is 16.2% higher than for the same period last year.
The main part of the tourist flow is for the island of Bali - 41, 8 thousand people in January-March 2019, which is 90.1% of the total tourist flow. The next most popular locations among Russians in Indonesia are the capital Jakarta (about 2.5 thousand people), as well as Batam and Bintan islands (slightly less than a thousand people in the first quarter).
“Russian tourists, as before, choose the island of Bali, but they combine it more actively with the nearby islands - East Java, Lombok, Flores, and of course, the islands of Gili and Nusa Penida,” told the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism.
Activation of demand of tourist routes for alternative Bali fully meets the priorities of the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia - a significant expansion of the geography of the islands visited by Russians.
“Interest to Bali is growing every year among Russian tourists, and recently the regions have begun to actively involve in tourism,” said Regina Safina, the head of the Indonesian department of ANEX Tour. Also Coral Travel, TUI, PAX, Intourist, Ambotis and Quinta Tour operators talk about the positive dynamics of demand for Bali this year.
As for transportation, there were no direct flights from Moscow to Indonesia (in June). The flights of Rossia Airline from Moscow to Denpasar were temporarily suspended from May 27 to June 27, 2019. The main reason, reported by the airline, was the closed sky over Pakistan, which extended the flight and increased the price.
