South Korea will resume the ferry line Sokcho-Zarubino-Hunchun in summer 2017
“South Korea plans to resume the interrupted in 2014 ferry line from Sokcho (South Korea) - Zarubino (Russia) - Hunchun (China) in the summer of 2017”, - said the president of the Sea tourist center of Kangwon Province Pak Tae Uk.
"On the line we are you planning to use ships with a capacity of about a thousand passengers, in addition, the ferry line will be able to carry twice much container’s cargo, than in the past. We have involved the companies engaged in tourism and hospitality industry for this project. One of these companies is considering to build a hotel in Vladivostok", - the press-service of the Primorye administration quotes the president of the Sea tourist center of the province Kangwon.
Park Tae Uk said, that after modernization the sea port Sokcho can receive the ships up to 100 thousand tonnage and the Korean side has a large scale plans for the development of the ferry service.
The South Korean shipping company DAEA performed the ferry line from Sokcho-Zarubino-Hunchun from March 2013 twice a week. The passenger ferry New Blue Ocean, which can accommodate 750 passengers, performed the routs. In 2014 transportation was suspended due to low project payback.
