Russian tourists can travel to Myanmar without a visa
Without issuing any visas, having only a valid passport, a Russian citizen can visit Myanmar under the following conditions:
- this is not a long (up to 30 days) one-time trip (tourism, business trip),
- visitors has documents confirming the reservation of a hotel room,
- visitors need to enter the country through the customs points of international airports – Mandalay, Naypyidaw and Yangon.
If a Russian citizen plans to enter Myanmar through land borders (from India, Bangladesh, China, Laos or Thailand) or several times, he needs to obtain a special tourist/work visa, which will be valid for 6 months from the date of its granting:
simple visa – gives the right to enter Myanmar twice during the validity of the visa and stay in the country for a total of up to 30 days. Cost of a visa is $55.
universal visa – gives the right to enter the country several times and stay in Myanmar for a total of up to 90 days. Cost of a visa is $85.
Earlier, since October 1, 2019, the Government of Myanmar decided to issue tourist visas upon arrival to Russian citizens. The relief was introduced for a period of one year in test mode and will apply to those who fly into the country through the international airports of Naypyidaw, Yangon and Mandalay. The visa fee was $50 and permits to stay in Myanmar for up to 30 days.
Many tourists choose Myanmar for a recreation as part of combined tours with Cambodia and Thailand. For these travelers, simplified entry can be a significant advantage.
