The Russians have taken the second place in terms of the total tourist flow to the Maldives since the beginning of the year. The first position was taken by Indian tourists.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Maldives, from January 1 to November 30, 2022, the number of tourists to the luxury islands reached 1 456 170. This is a 29,8% increase compared to the same period of 2021, when the number of arrivals was 1 122 245 people.
Despite the large number of arrivals this year, it is still 2,8% lower than in 2019, which preceded the pandemic. In 2019, a total of 1 497 599 tourists arrived in the Maldives.
At the same time, the number of arrivals in November, or rather, until November 30, amounted to 11 813 people. This is an increase of 2,3% over the same period last year. The inbound tourist flow amounted to 109 317 people, which is 7,5% more than in the same period of pre-Covid 2019, when the number of arrivals was 103 981 people.
During the pandemic period, Russia took the first place in the rating of incoming tourist flow to the Maldives, but after the weakening of covid restrictions in the world, the country began to lose its position and slipped to the third place.
