155 490 Russian tourists visited the Maldives

From January 1 to October 19, 1,27 million tourists visited the Maldives, one of the priority Russian destinations. At the same time, Russian travelers are on the second position in the ranking of inbound tourist traffic. Such data was provided by the Ministry of Tourism of the popular tropical archipelago.

At the moment, only in October, the country was visited by 88 611 vacationers. This is more than it was in the same period over the past three years. So, for the same period of time in 2021, 82 863 tourists arrived in the Maldives. The place of the leading market was occupied by India, the second one - by Russia.

Russia – 155 490 people,
Great Britain – 139 788 people,
Germany – 103 828 people,
Italy – 72 108 people,
USA – 60 345 people,
France – 37 005 people,
Spain – 33 598 people,
Saudi Arabia – 28 431 people,
Switzerland - 26 778 people.

The popularity of the resort is explained by the presence of direct flights of Aeroflot, which has been operating on the route since the beginning of 2021.

Thus, for the first six months of last year, the Russians were ahead of other foreign tourists in terms of the number of arrivals and only in the last autumn season they lost the leading position.

As for the current year, the number of European visitors has increased in the Maldives, due to the fact that most European countries canceled anti-COVID measures in the summer, and international flights are again returning to the airport schedule.
