Russian tourist flow to Japan increased by 22,2% for three quarters of 2019
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), for the nine months of 2019 83 700 Russians visited Japan, which is 22,2% more than in the same period of 2018. The growth of Russian tourist flow in September is almost 40%.
As JNTO reported, in January-September 2019 more than 24 million tourists from all over the world visited Japan - a million more than in 2018. The TOP-3 is, as before, China (7 402 600 people), South Korea (4 934 200 people) and Taiwan (3 736 600 people).
By the growth rate of tourist flow to the country the TOP-5 includes Vietnam (+29,1%), Russia (+22,2%), the United Kingdom (+17,7%), India (+16%) and China (+14,8%). South Korea, despite on the stably high rate of arrivals in the country, this time showed a negative figure (-13,4%).
The number of Russians crossing the Japanese border in September 2019 increased by 39% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 10 500 people. This is a record month for the entire time of statistics (in 2018, 7 555 tourists visited Japan for the same period).
The JNTO notes that the fact of increasing of tourist flow from Russia connects with new flights and increased frequency from the regions of the Far East, cruises from Vladivostok, as well as an increase of the number of airplanes’ seats on the rout Moscow - Tokyo.
