Russia took the first line in terms of tourist flow to Phuket
For the first time in history, at the end of November, Russia became the leader in the number of tourists arriving in Phuket, the main resort in Thailand. If earlier the Russian Federation sent about 0,5-0,7 million tourists to Phuket a year, then under the current severe restrictions on entry, the monthly tourist flow from Russia amounted to only 5 162 people.
The five leaders in terms of the number of tourists arriving in Phuket included the following countries:
Russia – 5 162 people;
Germany – 4 972 people;
Great Britain – 3 061 people;
USA – 2 214 people;
Israel – 2 080 people.
Thus, Russia in November for the first time leads in terms of tourist flow to Thailand. Earlier, tourists from China (which is now closed), as well as from other Asian countries, were the first in the structure of tourist traffic to Phuket.
According to the Russian Consulate General in Phuket, from the second half of December, Aeroflot plans to carry out an additional flight from Moscow to Phuket.
In turn, S7 airline will add to the winter schedule one flight per week to Phuket from Vladivostok, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk, and will also launch a new regular flight from Ulan-Ude to the island.
Thus, the total number of flights from Russia to Phuket will increase to 10 per week. This, of course, is still not enough. Before the pandemic, Phuket International Airport received 1 700 - 1 900 aircraft from Russia per year (on average, 36 per week, and in winter - about 70-80 per week).
