Petersburg expects to host more than 7 million tourists in 2017
“The authorities of St. Petersburg expect that by the end of 2017 the city will visit more than 7 million tourists”, - said the Head of the sector of regional and international projects of the city committee for the development of tourism Alexander Martynov.
According to the "City Tourist and Information Bureau", A. Martynov, summing up the preliminary results of the tourist season, noted that the city already has the record of the growth of tourist flow.
"It is already noticeable that this year is at least as good as the previous year: 6.9 million people visited St. Petersburg in 2016, and this year we already see 4% growth in the first half of the year. We hope that we will see the number more than 7 million tourists According to Pulkovo airport statistics, passenger traffic grew by 25% in the first half of the year and the number of foreign citizens increased by 37%, the number of cruise passengers increased by 15%", - informed A. Martynov.
According to the bureau, during 9 months of 2017 the tourist flow of Russian-speaking tourists decreased by 7.7%, while foreign tourists - increased by 2.7%.
According to the estimates of the employees of the tourist information bureau, a noticeable stream of guests is expected in November in connection with the centennial anniversary of the revolutionary actions in Russia.
