Moscow will host more than 21 million tourists in 2017
“The tourist flow in Moscow increased by 65% for seven years. According to the results of 2017, the capital will be visited by more than 21 million travelers”, - said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.
"We expect that more than 21 million tourists will visit Moscow in 2017, including 4.5 million foreigners, against 19 million travelers in 2016. In general, since 2010 the tourist flow has grown by 65%", - N. Sergunina has noted.
She explained that until 2013 most tourists came to Moscow with business purposes. "But this stream began to decline in 2014. However, thanks to the work for increasing the attractiveness of the city - it was possible not only to avoid stagnation, but also to achieve a significant growth of the tourist flow", - stressed N.Sergunina.
The Deputy Mayor also said that in the period of the festivals the capital hotels are quite full.
The organizing committee of the Moscow festivals told that Moscow, according to the ratings of various experts, is among the ten of most interesting places, where you can travel, including winter holidays.
"The American business newspaper The Wall Street Journal has included Moscow in the TOP 5 of the most interesting places to spent winter holidays. In this list, for example, Moscow is together with Tokyo and Santa Fe (a city in the south of the US). The National Geographic called the Russian capital in its rating for 2017 as one of the seven most interesting destinations for tourism. And in the guidebook of the publishing house Lonely Planet "Best Travel-2017" Moscow was included in the TOP 10 recommended for travel cities in the world", - the organizing committee said.
