In 2021, Russians made more than 5,2 million trips abroad
Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) of Russia Maya Lomidze announced the data on outbound tourism. For 9 months of 2021, Russian tourists made 5,24 million trips abroad.
“Now the Operations Headquarters has opened air communication with 64 countries of the world, but only 32 of them accept tourists from the Russian Federation with various restrictions. For the nine months of 2021, Russians made 5,24 million trips to open and popular countries for the purpose of tourism. The volume of outbound tourist traffic is far behind the indicators of 2019. At the same time, according to ATOR, about 63% of the total Russian tourist flow to the far abroad in 2021is in one country," said Maya Lomidze.
She noted that only 11 European countries are ready to receive Russian tourists with restrictions, despite the fact that air traffic has been resumed with 25 countries. In Asia, 2 of 7 countries are ready to receive Russians.
The list of the leading destinations included the following countries:
Turkey (3,3 million trips)
Cyprus (about 400 thousand);
Egypt (350 thousand);
UAE (320 thousand);
Maldives (180 thousand).
It is also reported that according to the results of eight months of 2021, international air traffic decreased by more than 3,3 times compared to the same period in 2019. Tour prices have increased. The depth of sales was reduced to three weeks.
