In 2016 the number of Iranian tourists visited Russia increased by 60 thousand.

“In 2016 Russia was visited by 60 thousand Iranian tourists more than a year earlier”, - said in the Russian Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) referring to the Iranian embassy Сounselor Hassan Saleh Madja. Hassan Saleh Majd told about it during the first joint meeting on tourism with ATOR. He noted that every week 8-9 flights are flying between Russia and Iran. The railway communication between Moscow and Tehran is expected to be restored to the end of 2017. In addition, currently we are working on an agreement of visa-free exchange of tourist groups between Russia and Iran, agreement which is similar to the Chinese one. It is expected that the document will be ready in 2017. According to Federal Service of State Statistics, in 2015 35.4 thousand tourists from Iran visited Russia. At the same time, the growth of tourist flow amounted to 106% in comparison with 2014 year.
