Demand for Malta is growing in Russia
Tour operators record demand growth in the Maltese destination. According to the Malta Tourism Authority, tourist flows from Russia to Malta have been growing for the fourth year. In 2019, almost 32,5 thousand Russians visited the country, which is 12% higher than in 2018.
According to the forecasts of tour operators, the number of Russian arrivals in Malta in 2020 may increase. At the stage of early booking, the demand in the destination, according to market participants, grew from 15 to 70%.
ICS Travel Group records a 70% increase in sales, which is connected with affordable prices for air transportation. Most often, tours in July and August are booked. According to the specialists of Intourist tour operator, sales in the Maltese destination are 14% ahead of the last year's figures and the peak of summer season sales does not come yet.
PAC Group tour operator notes that in the top demand for Malta are sightseeing and educational tours, as well as beach vacations. This year there are more requests for beach and combined tours. Experts from ICS Travel Group, Intourist and Russian Express reported on such trend of a demand.
In March and April Malta hotels offer discounts for accommodation from 8 to 15%. In the beginning of the 2020 season, a significant increase for accommodation in Malta did not occur. As the experts of Russian Express informed, the prices in local hotels have remained unchanged. Moreover, some hotels on certain dates offered prices which are lower than they were last year.
