Tourist flow from Russia to Malta increased by 10% for 11 months of 2019
The number of Russian tourists visiting Malta from January to November 2019 increased by 10,6% and amounted to 31,25 thousand people, the press service of Malta Tourism Authority reported.
“The number of visitors to the Maltese archipelago over the period from January to November of 2019 reached 2,63 million tourists, which is 4,6% more than a year earlier. We noted a significant increase of tourist flow from Russia: for eleven months the country was visited by 31 257 Russians, this is 10,6% more compared to the same period last year, " the report said.
The share of tourist trips in Malta amounted to 89,1% or 2,32 million, business trips – 6,7% (174,67 thousand), another 4,2% of arrivals to the islands are tours with "other purposes" .
The total number of tourists visiting the country in November last year amounted to 191,69 thousand people (plus 8,3%). During this time, foreigners spent 1,2 million nights on the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino.
About 85% of all tourists come in Malta from European Union countries. Most Eastern European tourists arrive in Malta from Poland.
