Demand for luxury Sri Lanka is growing
Winter Sri Lanka is in greater demand this year than last one. According to tour operators, the country will be one of the top five destinations in demand among Russians for winter beach holidays.
From January to October 2023, 142 929 Russians visited this country (an increase is 56,6% by 2022), and for the first 4 weeks of November - another 22 382 tourists (+62% compared to the entire November 2022).
At the same time, travel companies are recording an increase in demand not only for budget tours to Sri Lanka to 3-4* hotels, but also for tours to 5* hotels, with a high budget exceeding $ 3 240 for two persons for a week.
Despite the love of Russians for budget Sri Lanka, the country is increasingly becoming the object of attention for tourists who are willing to pay large sums for luxury vacation, say Ics Travel Group and Fun&Sun.
“More than in other Asian countries, in Sri Lanka, all-inclusive and luxury hotels are in demand,” Anex notes.
On average in the Russian market, the share of luxury hotels already accounts for about 10-12% of the total volume of Sri Lankan sales for the winter season, but for a number of companies this share can be much higher.
At the same time, everyone has seen an increase in the number of 5* hotel bookings compared to last year, and for a number of companies it ranges from 2 to 10 times (for example, Pac Group and Tez Tour).
