A Tourism Development Forum was held in Tajikistan

On April 16-17, the third International Tourism Forum «Sughd – crossroads of the Great Silk Road» was held in Khujand (Sughd Region, Tajikistan). The forum aimed at developing international cooperation in tourism and promoting the region's tourism potential.

Over 500 tourism industry representatives from nine countries and 25 regions participated in the event. Russia was represented by several regions, including the Moscow, Rostov, Tyumen regions and the Republic of Tatarstan, where Tajik tour operators have established connections.

The official part of the event was opened by Sughd Regional Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda. In his speech, he noted the region's strategic role in the country's tourism development and outlined the industry's key areas: entertainment, health, medical, mountain sports, environmental, historical, ethnographic and business tourism.

According to the Sughd Regional Administration, more than 100 cooperation agreements were signed between tour operators and regional governments in Central Asia and Russia during the 3rd  International Tourism Development Forum in Khujand.
