5,2 thousand Russian tourists visited Japan in 2022

According to Japan National Tourism Organization, 1 200 people entered Japan from Russia in September and 5 200 from January to September.

A total of 1 028 500 people entered Japan between January and September 2022. The top three included South Korea (32,7 thousand people), Vietnam (30,9 thousand) and the United States (18 thousand).

The statistics of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Justice of Japan are used when calculating the number of incoming foreign tourists. The statistics does not include foreigners permanently residing in Japan, but take into account transit foreign citizens.

Since October 11, Japan has lifted almost all covid restrictions.
