3,3 thousand Russian tourists visited Japan from January to July
More than 652 thousand foreign tourists visited Japan from January to July 2022, including 3,3 thousand Russian tourists, according to statistics published by the Japan National Tourism Office (JNTO).
“For seven months from January to July 2022, 652 thousand people entered Japan, while in 2021 this figure was 147,3 thousand. The flow of tourists over this period increased by almost 4,5 times. In July, the number of foreign visitors amounted to 144,5 thousand people. The top three are headed by Vietnam (22,7 thousand), South Korea (20,4 thousand) and China (14,8 thousand),” as per JNTO statistics.
As JNTO informed, 800 people from Russia visited Japan in July, and 3 300 people - from January to July.
In 2019, 120 000 Russian tourists visited Japan. The increase compared to 2018 was more than 26%.
Japan resumed accepting foreign tourists after the coronavirus pandemic on June 10 with restrictions. So, only citizens from countries with a low risk of infection, in organized groups and with a guide can enter this state.
