TUI is planning to send 300 000 Russian tourists to Greece
Tui Russia expects to send 300 000 Russian tourists to Greece in summer 2021, if the season starts as scheduled and air traffic is resumed without restrictions, the General Director of Tui Russia Taras Demura said on the meeting with Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis. The minister is in Moscow with official visit this week.
“We hope that following the visit of Mr. Theocharis, all the necessary decisions will be taken both by Greek and Russian authorities. If, as expected, by May 14 air traffic between our countries will be resumed in full, then we will be able to send 300 000 tourists to Greek resorts, ” the general Director of Tui Russia Taras Demura said.
According to the general director of TUI Russia, the opening of Greece will help redistribute tourist flows, since domestic resorts in Russia will not be able to accept everyone due to the lack of a sufficient number of classified rooms. “During the early booking period, a multiple increase in sales of tours to the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory was recorded compared to 2019 and 2020, so we can assume that in a month it will be difficult to find free rooms in popular hotels in Russia. It should be remembered that last winter, many Russians had to give up trips to seaside resorts, and now it is vital for them to have beach holidays with their families,” Taras Demura added.
He added that tour operator plans to launch charter flights to Crete from Moscow and Yekaterinburg, as well as to Corfu from Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Kazan. In addition, TUI Russia is ready to use regular flights to form tour packages to Athens, Halkidiki, Peloponnese, as well as Zakynthos and Santorini.
