Greece is ready to host all Russian tourists without quotas
Greece plans to fully open to Russian tourists from May 14 and expects up to 500 thousand Russians in 2021. Polikarpos Efstatiu, director of the representative office of the Greek National Tourism Organization in the Russian Federation and the CIS, reported about the conditions of entry to Greece.
As Mr. Efstatiu noted during a press conference at MITT-2021, any restrictive measures for tourists will no longer be in force in Greece from May 14. Tourists will be able to move freely within the country and visit several regions at once. A complete abolition of quarantine upon arrival is also planned.
From May 14, the restrictive quota of 500 Russian people per week will also be ceased and the ordinary air traffic will gradually be restored, he added.
According to him, already now, an active work is underway among Russian tour operators and airlines to expand regular and charter transportation.
The opportunity to freely visit Greece will appear for those Russian tourists who will be vaccinated with the Russian vaccine against COVID-19, or any other vaccine, as well as for those Russians, who can present a certificate of negative PCR test done no later than 72 hours before departure.
The result of such active actions to attract Russian tourists to Greece should be the restoration of tourist flow this year to 50% against the tourist flow in 2019. This means that Greece hopes to host about 400-500 thousand Russians this season.
