Tourist flow to foreign countries increased by 25% in May

This year in May, a quarter more Russian tourists traveled abroad than during this period in 2022. The tourist flow to Asia has grown noticeably, but the CIS countries have received fewer travelers from Russia.

The most popular destinations for Russians are Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkey.

Between April 29 and May 29, the flow to Turkey increased by 70% compared to last year. The United Arab Emirates were included in the TOP-5 countries, which received 150% more travelers. A year ago, this destination was at the end of the TOP-10.

Egypt has entered the TOP-10 popular countries. The demand for this destination is recovering - in May, 3,5 times more tourists came here than last year.

The tourist flow to Asian countries is gradually recovering. This is due to the opening of borders and the resumption of direct flights from Russia. The number of tourists in Thailand has increased almost 30 times.

At the same time, analysts note a decrease of the interest of Russians in the CIS countries. If last year 71% of tourists went to the countries of the near abroad for the May holidays, this year it is 56%. The number of trips to the CIS countries decreased by 8,5% compared to last year.

European countries accepted 7% of travelers, their share decreased by another 1% over the year.
