Tourist flow from Russia to Japan has increased by 23.8%
According to the latest statistics of Japanese National Tourist Organization (JNTO), 88,6 thousand tourists from Russia visit Japan over 11 months, which is 23.8% more than in this period in 2017. JNTO also notes a record total incoming flow to Japan - 30 million tourists since 2018. In 2017, Japan was visited by 28,690,000 visitors from different countries.
The total incoming tourist flow to Japan, therefore, grew by 4.5% in annual terms. China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the United States are the leaders again by the number of tourists.
For the first 11 months of 2018, 88,600 tourist arrivals from Russia are recorded in Japan (an increase in annual terms is 23.8%). Only in November, 9,300 Russians visited Japan, which is 18.6% higher than last year.
Following the results of 11 months, Russia is on the second position by the rate of growth of tourist traffic among 20 key source markets of Japan. So, for 11 months of 2018, the number of tourists from Vietnam increased by 26.1% compared to the same period in 2017, from Russia - by 23.8%, from Italy - by 21.2%, from Spain - by 20.2% and from the Philippines - by 19.4%.
JNTO connects the record of the total incoming flow and the increase in the number of arrivals from key markets with the launch of the international campaign -Visit Japan, which started in 2003.
“Despite the typhoon in Osaka and the earthquake in Hokkaido, the indicator of incoming tourism looks quite optimistic. By 2020, when the Olympic and Paraolympic Games will be held in Tokyo, the Japanese government has a goal to increase this figure up to 40 million people”, reported the Moscow office of Japan National Tourist Organization.
