Tour operators announced an increase in demand for tours to France by 40%
According to Irina Tyurina, the spokeswoman of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, the interest of Russian tourists in tours to France in the summer 2019 has significantly grown, tour operators reported about 10-40% increase in sales of tours compared to the same period last year. "Summer sales to France this year pleased tour operators with good results. According to them, the sales are gradually recovering after a recession. In different companies, the increase was from 10-15% to 40%. The resorts of the Cote d'Azur, Paris Disneyland and travels across the French province are still leading in the requests among Russian tourists," she said.
As Tyurina noted, the tours to France this summer were popular due to the stable exchange rate and, probably, put-up demand connected with last year's World Cup in Russia, when the cost of air flights from Russia to France was quite high. Also, some hotels kept prices for accommodation at the last year's level. "For the autumn season Russian tourists are actively booking the Cote d'Azur and Monaco, sightseeing tours to Paris and its suburbs, as well as the New Year tours. In addition, following the results of the last winter season, companies predict higher sales of ski tours," underlined Irina Tyurina.
According to tour operators, in the summer, tourists more often chose accommodation in 4-5* hotels. In Paris the Russians mainly booked 3* hotels.
