The tourist flow from Russia to Japan increased by 40% in January-October 2017
“In January-October this year 63.7 thousand Russians visited Japan, which is 40.2% more than in the same period of the last year”, - according to statistics published on the website of the Japanese National Tourism Organization (JNTO). In October 2017 9,300 visitors from Russia visited Japan, which is 43.9% more than in the same period a year earlier. In general, the number of foreign tourists in Japan for the first ten months of this year amounted 23.8 million people (plus 18.3%). In October 2017 the country was visited by 2.6 million foreign travelers (plus 21.5%). Previously JNTO reported that from January to September this year more than 54,000 Russian tourists visited Japan (plus 39%). The growth of interest among Russians to Japan is connected, in particular, with the fact that from January 1, 2017 Russia and Japan mutually simplified the visa regime. In particular, the requirement of having on obligatory invitation from the guarantor of the trip for the self-traveling Russian citizens have ceased. Simplification of the visa regime has led to an increase of the flow of tourists from Japan to Russia. In particular, in Primorye region of Russia it increased by 2.4 times in the first half of the year.
