The results of summer holiday -2018

Among all kinds of holiday the Russians choose rest at house in the country, on the second place are hiking, fishing and hunting. The All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VCIOM) presents data: where the Russians spent summer, how much money they spent during a trip and whether they are satisfied with their vacation. The most preferable types of recreation for Russians are recreation in the country (35%), as well as hiking, fishing and hunting (34%). The rest at house in the country is chosen mainly by people of the older generation (45% among 60+), and hiking, fishing and hunting - by 25-34-year-old citizens (46%). In addition, among the most popular types of recreation are excursions and trips to historical places (31%) or rest at home (31%). A quarter of Russians (26%) spent summer vacations in the country. Every tenth interviewed (10%) visited one of the regions of Russia. Among beach lovers this share reaches 13%. More than 9% of respondents could rest on the shores of the Black Sea, according to the inquiry. 6% visited the resorts of Krasnodar Territory, 3% - of the Crimea. A bit traveled abroad (6%), including those who prefer informative type of rest (17%). Every third respondent spent free summer days at home (32%). 22% of Russians couldn’t leave home this summer. Spending for traveling this summer have slightly decreased against the previous year. So, the budget for one family member is 37.179 Rubles (480 Euros) (against 37,363 Rubles in 2017- 502 Euros). In May this year, on average, the Russians planned to spend 44.205 Rubles (573 Euros). The level of satisfaction with rest is much higher among those who could travel, rather than among those who stayed at home or were at house in the country: 85% against 53%, respectively. The highest level of satisfaction is recorded among holidaymakers in the Crimea (93%), at the resorts of Krasnodar Territory and in Russian cities (89%). If last year holidaymakers were dissatisfied because of lack of money, this year among the main reasons for dissatisfaction with rest is the lack of the opportunity to go to the place they dreamed about (39%). For the past 5 years 46% of Russians have rested in another region of Russia. Among the most popular places in Russia our citizens call Krasnodar Territory (30%), the Crimea (9%), Moscow (5%), St. Petersburg (4%) and Republic of Tatarstan (3%). Every second participant (51%) believes that for the last 5 years the conditions for rest and leisure in Russia have changed for the better. Positive changes are more often noticed by holidaymakers who spent holidays in different cities of Russia (69%) and those who spent vacations at the resorts of Krasnodar Territory (64%).
